HEARTS TO TURN TO ADDO

Hearts to turn to Addo

Accra Hearts of Oak will turn to their former star man Ishmael Addo for goals as their season threatens to become a battle against relegation.

The Phobians, who are traditionally major competitors for honours in the domestic league, lie 16 points off the pace as the league reaches the half way stage.

While they have leaked many goals, the Phobians have been particularly poor in front of goal. They have scored just seven goals in eleven games and have decided to look back to their glory days for inspiration.

Now the club is hoping a return to the past will help them as they seek a way forward.

Hearts have already reached a deal to sign Charles Taylor from Etoile du Sahel on a permanent basis. He will now be joined by his former striker partner Ishmael Addo when the Ghana transfer window opens to Premier League clubs for business in March.

Hearts chairman Harry Zakkour has confirmed the impeding deal to GhanaPremierLeague.zzn.com and it is a move that will delight many Phobians given Addo’s standing within the club.

A product of the Hearts youth system, Addo was top scorer in the Ghana league for three straight seasons as Hearts swept the honours board each season. He also scored five times en route to their triumph in the 2000 CAF Champions League and went on to represent Ghana at the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations.

But his career has been in freefall since moving abroad and has failed to impress during spells in France, Israel, Greece and Cyprus. He has been back in Ghana for six months in an attempt to resurrect an ailing career.
